Notting Hill Family Photographer - Mum and baby photography session
Photographing women with their babies is something I will NEVER get tired of. If you’re anything like me, you’re the only constantly taking the photos in your family, but how many photos do you have with your children that you absolutely love and want to show off? If the answer is not enough, then let’s do something about it before any more time whizzes past! It’s so important to me that I fill my family albums with photos of ALL of us, so that we have the full picture to look back on. Up until a couple of years ago, the only pictures of me that I could contribute to the albums were shoddy selfies or photos I really didn’t like, but now I make the effort to have a photoshoot at least once a year, and I couldn’t be happier with the memory bank I’m amassing!
The thing is, we all wish we loved having our photo taken, but the reality is often quite different, as we Mums are a self-critical bunch, but what I came to realise was that my children won’t care whether I’d lost that extra half stone that I’ve been carrying around with me begrudgingly, they’ll just want to see ME as I am, right now, and they’ll be so glad to have an abundance of photos to look back on.
If you feel the same as I do, my advice is to find a photographer you really like and who makes you feel really relaxed, as then the session will be more like hanging around with a friend for an hour than anything awkward or stuffy. That’s certainly my main aim in all my family sessions!
I couldn’t have been more delighted to spend the morning with this lovely Mum and her toddler recently, and when she sent me a message after getting the gallery to say that she almost cried with happiness, it was the icing on the cake! We’re all the same really, we just want to capture a snapshot every so often of these long old days that are gone in a jiffy :-)
